Welcome to the Lord's XI FC homepage

Lord's XI are an Exeter based Christian football team that play in the Devon and Exeter football league.

The team was originally founded in 1994 by Dave Saunders. At the time, Dave was playing for non-christian team and knew several other Christians doing the same. Dave felt a calling to start up a Christian team that could play together in the league, and so along with some other Christians he knew playing in other teams, the team of Lord's XI was set up.

The team initially started playing at Cullompton Community College, where Dave was a teacher, and began in the Devon and Exeter football league Intermediate 4 division. The team had a great first season, finishing 2nd in the league. Over time, the team moved around a few pitches, settling on Amory Park in Tiverton. Whilst there, some of the current squad joined the team, such as members of the Holding family, the Wills brothers, Paul Hine, and Mark Jackson - the current squad's longest serving player.

At the end of the 2003-04 season, Dave Saunders stepped down as player/manager after 10 years in charge. Paul Hine took over for the following season, bringing in some new players and moving the team to its new home at King George playing fields in Exeter. Paul stayed as player/manager for the next 6 seasons, achieving 2 promotions and a cup final in his final season, 2009-10. Paul has now stepped down as manager (although he remains a member of the squad and club secretary) and Robert Kelly and Gareth Wills will begin their first season in charge in September 2010.
