                                                                                            Brenda Tabe Enbika story

My name is Brenda Tabe Enbika Aka puissance, means the power.  I’m the older daughter and the second child of my parents. my father was in the military, mother ran small business. She was also a footballer. Branda heads from the south west region of Cameroon from the city of Beau and later move to Mamfe, before leaving the south west region Yaoundé to further her education.

Education has always been an important part of our family. My family was able to pay my school fees without difficulties. We live in a big house life was good, we didn’t have any financial problems until my family problems when my father left my mother. My mother had to take care of me, my brothers and sisters alone.

It was very difficult for her just to put food on the table, pay our school fees, and pay the rent. When she got sick life really got worse for us, eventually she got well. I had to change schools to take a job to help pay the bills.

It is not easy getting education in Cameroon as an independent girl, especially when there is less money available. The good schools like the anglophone schools are very expense, like the one I attend.

My school is very far from my home, I have to travel a long distance to get to school, I spend 1,500 franc a day to get to school that is equivalent to $2.78 that may not seems like a lot in the US, but in Cameroon that’s a lot, because of that I had to go to school 3 times a week. Eventually I’ll find a housing close to school.

I attend a private school. The public schools are not very good. The tuition is fee 209,000 franc equal $387.00 US per year, 30,000 franc equal $55.63 admission fee, 15000 francs for uniform equal $27.81. Since I don’t live on campus, I have to feed myself. I buy my own text books and other school supplies.  My mother helps whenever she can from the small market she owns.

Uhuru has been a blessing for me and my family. Uhuru academy has truly impacted my life. I was so happy when Mr. Dahiru Director of Uhuru football academy in Cameroon, told me that Uhuru give me a scholarship I didn’t believe it, because I have heard stories like this before. until I received a call from Mr. winston Jacobs informing me that Uhuru had given me an education and football scholarship that will take care of all my education and football needs. Uhuru also promise me, they will provide college opportunity to go to the USA to continue my education after secondary school on an academic /football scholarship.

I love football very much. Football is my passion. I train every day to make myself better when I’m not training with my club. Corona virus change everything, it stopped our football season and close schools, work was very difficult for people to find, it made things difficult including my family also. Uhuru was there to help us through this difficult time.

Yes, I know football can provide an opportunity for me to go to school in the US, because I have always had proposal to travel to Europe, USA and Canada, but I prefer the USA, because of the footballing opportunity and playing professional football upon the completion of my education from university.

I want to study Economics and business management to become a banker, or maybe I’ll do political science to help give women in Cameroon a fair opportunity.

I love to become a professional footballer since it has always been my number one passion and how, we ‘ll see.

Nothing is special about me, I’m just a kind of person that don’t have too much friends, because of bad experiences. My nick name is la puissance, means the power, I’m bilingual I speak French and English. I’m from the Anglophone region of Cameroon. I’m a player of the U17 Cameroon Nat’l team. I competed in the 2018 U17 women’s world cup at the age of 14. My future plans is to plan with senior Nat’l team.

I encourage Cameroon children to believe in their selves, to be discipline, respectful to people, love what they are doing and to take their schooling very serious, because education is the key to success for many Cameroonians and Africans as a whole.

                                                                                         This is my story, thanks.
