Welcome to Vernon Barford’s website, and thank you for your interest in our school. The core purpose of our school is to
    a) Ensure learning and b) Promote positive development of the whole child

We offer Regular and Gifted & Talented programming at all three grade levels, and our school is home to approximately 800 students in grades 7 through 9. We continue to have a proud tradition of providing excellence and opportunity in academics and various extracurricular activities.

Planning for the 2024-25 School Year:

Please note that the Grade 7 Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. All new to VB students and parents invited. You will meet some of our teachers, learn a little bit about our school and what to expect on the first
day of school, find your classrooms without other students in the school, find your locker, practice your combination lock (a good thing to do over the summer a few times as well), and basically have a chance to start to get settled. A parent from each family is also invited to attend if possible. We will have a separate parent information session for them which will cover some basic
information about our school as well as provide parents with a chance to ask questions about junior high.   Please read our Orientation Letter 2024-2025 for more information.

If you are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

    The 2023-24 School Year:

For the 2023-24, Vernon Barford School is full in all Grades 7, 8, and 9 programs. Therefore, we will now only accept resident students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 who have newly moved into Vernon Barford School’s attendance area. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enroll in another division school with space for planned classes.
